The Rainy Fall!

We’ve been so busy around here…neglecting to put up some of the great, fun, family shots we’ve gotten this fall!
Here are a few favs –
Rock Creek Park (my favorite part of my running path) also makes for a really lush background. We had already done little Adeline’s infant session in studio, so being outside in the fall leaves with her big brother Aiden made for a nice balance for creating wall art with a diverse look. What a fun family! Love working with them!

Same exact section of Rock Creek, with a different subject on a different day. The light makes all the difference in the feel of the photograph. This is little Madeline, whom I have had the pleasure of working with 3 times now – the first being when she was just a few weeks old. And now she’s walking…hard to believe how time flies.

Here’s a portrait from River Farm – where we ran around and had lots of fun! These cuties saw a fox the last time they were there, which I think was a highlight of a lifetime ๐Ÿ™‚ The story has been told so often that the fox is now likely 6 feet tall in their minds!

A little baby on a bed – is there anything cuter?

More to come on these mini sessions – but this snap I just love – I photographed Lizzy back in the spring in all pink – I love her pink ‘gone fall’ look – what a great balance of the seasons for a family portrait wall.

Much more coming soon! To all my clients from 2008 and 2009 – it has been an absolute joy to see you again this fall. I hope you had as much fun at your sessions as I did. And welcome to all newcomers to Stacey Vaeth Photography!

Happy Halloween!

We hope you got some great shots of all of your little monkey’s!!

Aubrey and David, Meridian House | Washington, DC Wedding Photographer

I officially have a new favorite venue for weddings in Washington, DC. The Meridian House is a treasure, a hidden little enclave off of 15th St. NW. During Saturday’s serene, soulful wedding ceremony between Aubrey and David, you’d never know that across the street in Meridian Hill (Malcolm X) Park there were drum circles, Acro Yoga, and hundreds of city dwellers soaking in the last days of warmth before the coming winter.

Not only is the outdoor ceremony area spectacular, but there are English gardens for formal photographs, a perfect outdoor area flanked in trees and lined with convenient invisible wire for lanterns, flowing fabrics, hanging butterflies, or whatever else the DIY brides and grooms can think up, and a perfectly spectacular interior for reception, bar, and dancing.

On Saturday my fantastic second shooter, Abby Greenawalt, and I, photographed the wedding of Aubrey and David at the Meridian House. Aubrey and David are such lovely people, so relaxed and fun. They had a huge bridal party, all of whom were so sweet to Abby and I, and gave the funniest toasts (and a song) to the bride and groom! Despite an early mishap of forgetting her wedding shoes on the way to the venue, which would freak out any bride, Aubrey stayed super cool. She was an absolute vision in her dress from Hitched. And her toast to David was so beautiful, honoring him for “giving me the wedding of my dreams”.

I love this “first sight” shot between Aubrey and David.

I loved this simple and elegant idea! Table assignments written out on cards, and strung from wire between the trees out in the cocktail reception area.

Aubrey and David had a Persian wedding ceremony, with a table of offerings beyond anything I have seen!

Congratulations you two! Have an amazing time in Thailand!

Little Lion Noah

Kelly and Hiram came by the studio a while back for some infant shots of little Noah, their first addition to the family. What a beauty! I love what Kelly said when she arrived: “This is what his hair does. We’re not going to try to tame it!” It makes him all the sweeter with that wild mane.
Congratulations you guys!

Noah’s a leo. Don’t you just love his little lion? And little lion face?!

Chris & Alexis – The Mandarin Oriental Hotel | Washington, DC Wedding Photographer

I had such a wonderful time photographing the wedding of Alexis and Chris on Sunday. Supported by my fantastic colleage, Jenna Issacson, we enjoyed a day free of rain and about 10 degrees cooler than any other wedding I’ve done this summer.

When I got home from the wedding, I said to my husband, “this wedding made me want to get married all over again”. After all that goes into the planning of a wedding, that’s certainly not something I say easily. But the true love and support that surrounded these two on their wedding day reminded me of why we take this step in the first place. On our wedding day, our friends and family are witness to the bond we create with our partner, to support us when times get hard, to remind us of how we felt then, and to pull us back to center. With all those who witnessed Chris and Alexis’ marriage, who cheered, clapped, danced, hugged and loved them on Saturday, I have no doubt that they will be supported for the rest of time.

Announcements Galore! Premium Prints, Vacation, and Holiday Sessions!

Hi all,
If you are a client of Stacey Vaeth Photography, keep reading, because there are a lot of new announcements at the end of this post. If you’re just here for the pretty pictures, here are a few favorites from this week. Both of these clients returned this year with their first or second child. It’s always so fun for me to see how kids and families grow over the years. To play a role in capturing family memories is an endless honor.

Okay – on to the announcments! We’re at the beginning stages of rolling out our new product lines and offerings…and first up:

1. Print on Metallic and True Black and White paper, or add White Borders. Metallic paper is a silvery, shiny paper that really lets colors pop! Not recommended for images with a lot of white.

2. To view your images in Black and White, choose this option and the image will be converted for proofing purposes.

3. Print your wall art (8×10 and up) as Premium Prints. When printing this large, you’ll really notice the additional love and care added to your prints. In addition to printing the image with the finish that will suit it best, we’ll also add in all retouching and artistic finishes to take your image from Great! to OHHH WOW!

4. Fees. We’re now being charged a hefty fee to store our images online. Subsequently,  your images will be online until their expiration date, and a fee of $40/month will be assessed for each extension requested. If your gallery expires and you still want to order prints, just set up an image consultation with us to order your images. If your gallery has already expired from a session prior to this change, you will receive one extension free of charge.

5. Holiday Cards and Sessions: Book now. We’re getting full for the fall! 202.276.2481

6. Vacation – We’re resting up for the busy fall season, and spending a much needed week in the mountains. We’ll have a skeleton crew from August 25 – September 6th. If you need print orders fulfilled prior to September 15th, please order before August 24th. Appointments should be made before August 25th. Appointment requests received while our offices are closed will be booked in the order that they are received.

That’s it for now, more soon!

Food!

We had so much fun at this session yesterday. Metrocurean creator Amanda McClements needed a batch of fresh new images for the relaunch of her blog. When she approached me about the job, I was so excited to work such a beautiful person, who is totally into food and entertaining. When I arrived, she had great produce to inspire us, beautiful linens, and a light airy space where we could work. Here are some of my favorite images:
