Big News! We’re Hiring!
Posted on August 15, 2013
It’s with great excitement that I’m announcing today that the Stacey Vaeth Photography team is growing. After five very successful years in this business, I’m finally ready to take the plunge and share the fun with a team member. Having had a wonderful group of annual interns and assistants has reassured me that having an extra set of eyes, as well as an additional creative mind, can only benefit the growth of this little child of mine.
So, please spread the word, and wish us luck in this next chapter!

Wall Collections 2.0
Posted on August 1, 2013
This is so cool. So, despite much searching for a program that will let me and my wonderful clients see what their images will look like, at actual size, on the walls of their home, I had been unsuccessful thus far.
Until today! I found an amazing program that lets us not only see what the images look like, but that can also be done on my iPad, so I can do it in real time, at your home.
Check out these pictures of the process, taken in my office. The pictures I put into the template on the wall are of a client, because, sadly, I have NO good pictures of my own family. This is a motivator to change all of that!
First image – of the space where you want to hang your images. A standard sheet of paper is taped to the wall to accurately measure the size of the wall.
Second image: My chosen wall collection – in this case it’s (4) 16×16 float mounts:
And the final image, with our chosen pictures placed in the display. This image can be saved, emailed, and shared on Facebook. So cool!
I’m really looking forward to sharing this great new tool with all of my clients this fall!

Hillary and Eddie
Posted on July 21, 2013
Hillary and Eddie had a great wedding full of spirit and fun. Students at the University of Maryland and leaders of their church youth group, they’ve really built a community around themselves. Their church wedding was followed by lots of fun at the University for a dance-filled reception. Many congratulations you two, it was a perfect day!
Old Friends
Posted on July 17, 2013
Jennifer and her family came to town and what a reunion it was. I haven’t seen her since high school, and all of a sudden I’m surrounded by her beautiful children and super fun husband. We had a great day down at the Lincoln Memorial, doing a casual shoot to capture the spirit of the family. It’s amazing for me, when I can remember being a kid myself, to see my friends with young ones with personalities of their very own.
The amazing thing about this reconnection is that it came in a round about way. One of my clients here in DC sent out her holiday cards (which had my logo on the back), and lo and behold, one of them went to my old friend from upstate New York. Amazing how small this world is.
And did you know that another client that I have was BORN in the house that we just bought? Small world, indeed.
Homer and Sally Part 2 – Lyon Hall – Arlington, VA Wedding
Posted on June 15, 2013
In my love of the first part of Homer and Sally’s images, I neglected to post the second half!
The super cool Lyon Hall
Sally and Homer’s officiant, Joan Philips, preparing before the ceremony
This wedding was so personal and intimate…Sally’s wedding ring belonged to her grandmother, and her lace handkerchief is over a hundred years old. In addition to a gorgeous quilt that Homer’s best man’s mother made for them as a wedding gift, I think that they have their heirlooms covered. Hopefully these photos will be added to their treasured family pieces.
I’m not sure what was so funny here, but it was good enough to crack up the DJ as well….

I loved this idea of platters of cheese, spreads, nuts and such, served on slate boards, in place of centerpieces.
I sort of love this shot of Sally’s parents, her dad in a stance of support and comfort to his wife, so similar to how Homer is standing with his new bride.

Homer and Sally – Lyon Hall – Arlington, VA Wedding
Posted on June 14, 2013
Homer and Sally are perhaps the most laid-back bride and groom I’ve ever worked with. That’s not to say that they didn’t apply a total attention to detail in planning their wedding. It just wasn’t in THE details. It seems to me that their planning was focused on their guest list, their vendors and creating an energy for the night. They hired some tremendous people, and then trusted them to pull together the smaller details that would make the day sing. And boy, did it. I just loved working at Lyon Hall, in Arlington, a really amazing and funky restaurant, new to hosting weddings. You couldn’t tell for a minute that they hadn’t done this a million times. Vicky Choy, owner of Events Accomplished, did an outstanding job, as always, making the day go smoothly and stress-free. And I was blown away by the flowers created by Julie Martens of Honey Floral Design. They were a perfect, elegant nod to spring, while striking an easy-going, modern tone to match the modern space. She also had this great idea of putting the table assignments on a mirror, which mimicked the mirrors behind the restaurant bar. I also have to thank the bride and groom for a kickin’ guest list! Turns out that my friend Amy from way back when knows Sally from a running group, former clients Marni and David are good friends of the couple, and a co-worker and friend of my brother (where the recommendation originated) was there to celebrate as well. What a fun night for all of us! Many congratulations Homer and Sally, on what was truly a perfect day.
I love these custom cufflinks, a gift from Sally to Homer, made from old subway tokens.
Homer’s best friend, who’s like a brother to him, said “I can’t see Sally before he does”. They’re waiting here for her to arrive for the first look.

Beth, John and three little girls – Family Photography – Georgetown Waterfront, Washington, D.C.
Posted on June 14, 2013
I have worked with Beth, John and their children for so long, that they feel like family. We started together when Margaret, their youngest, was just a few months old. And now, over three years later, three beautiful girls, lots of trust, and a gorgeous and growing wall art display at their home. This is the stuff of a dream job.
